wolf facts

- a wolf howl can be heard up to 10 km away
- wolves were the first animals to be placed on the US endangered species act list in 1973
- there are two species of wolves: the gray wolf and the red wolf. there are also multiple subspecies of gray wolves
- wolves don’t howl at moons. they howl at other members of their packs to alert them to their location or to warn them
- red wolves are almost completely extinct :(
- some wolves in the arctic are known to survive for days without eating as they have to travel long distances in the forest in search of food
- the alphas in a pack are a male and female and are the only two to breed
- wolves are born with blue eyes that turn yellow once they are 8 months old
